The Node4 Pro Cycling Team
Team looking strong, this promises to be a great season
Just when people thought Yellow boss Phil Griffiths’ name might disappear from the British peleton, the longest serving team boss has once again pulled a rabbit from the hat and will predictably again be a leading mover and shaker on the home scene with his Node4 – Giordana Racing Team supported by Subaru.
And in typical Griffo manner, the team was put together at the last minute after the loss of his major sponsor of the last two years with a number of impressive signings attracted by Phil’s legendary passion for the sport and his reputation for looking after his riders.
That and the presence of Tour of Spain points winner Malcolm Elliot and Tour of Britain winner and Tour de France rider Bill Nickson directing from the team car were enough of an incentive for top young Irish rider Phil Lavery to move across from An Post.
And he has pulled another rabbit from the hat with the signing of 34 year old New Zealander Rico Rogers, who you might ask? Phil explained:’ It was a shame that Russell Downing could not have waited to sign a contract, we would have loved to have him back. But for Russ read Rico, he will be our sprinter, he has a formidable record including a stage win in the Tour of China.’
